Düsseldorf-based AIK Immobilien carried out €360 mln of transaction in 2015, its highest annual volume ever, on behalf of its German pension and insurance company clients.
During 2015 AIK acquired 13 properties for a total of €330 mln on behalf of its 10 real estate funds. The main focus was on German residential and retail properties in cities such as Berlin, Cologne and Münster.
AIK said it also 'took advantage of the current market environment' to carry out sales of hotel and commercial properties in Gelsenkirchen and Halle in Germany and in London to optimise fund portfolios. The four sales in 2015 had an aggregate volume of €30 mln.
As acquisitions significantly outweighed sales, AIK's assets under management increased to €2.8 bn. The biggest increase was in its residential investments which grew by 50% compared to 2014 due to several portfolio deals.
AIK plans between €150 mln and €300 mln of acquisitions in 2016, as well as some disposals.
