Roger Cooke is to step down as managing director of Spain at Cushman & Wakefield by the end of the year and hand over the the reins to Oriol Barrachina.

Announcing the change in a personalised and signed email message, Cooke wrote: 'The time has come when we need to look forward to the next market cycle for which Cushman & Wakefield has been preparing itself step by step.'

Cooke has been a partner and head of C&W's Spanish business since 1995. During that time he advised on a number of large investment deals, particularly in the retail property segment. He was previously a partner in the London office where he was responsible for valuation and public sector consultancy.

Barrachina, Cooke wrote, has been well prepared for his new role, having led the Barcelona office for almost 10 years. Barrachina is a partner and has been a member of the Spanish board since 2002. More recently, he has held national responsibilities, coordinating the service lines of Business Space, Property & Asset Management and Project Management.

Cooke continued: 'As we informed you earlier in the year, we have restructured our business with national teams in order to provide a better service to our clients, and this step is a natural continuation of that process. I will be working closely with Oriol and the team during the transition period that starts now, and hope he will be able to count on the same support from you that I have always enjoyed.

'Over my 33 years with the firm and 18 leading the business in Spain I have enjoyed wonderful experiences working with both our clients and team. Both these memories and the friendships I have with many of you will remain with me for a long time. I hope to be able to meet with many of you personally over the coming months.'
