The Turkish arm of Dutch property developer and investor Redevco has signed up a number of tenants for two Turkish malls set to be inaugurated next year, leasing some 60% of the space in both developments.

Redevco Turkey said this week that it had let more than 60% of the Gordion Shopping Center it is developing in Ankara, Turkey’s capital and second largest city with a population of 4.5 million. Units in the centre, which will provide a total of about 50,000 m2, have already been leased to tenants like Inditex Group Brands, C&A, Teknosa, Electroworld, Boyner Group Brands, Koton, Carrefour and Cinebus. The centre is set to open in the second quarter of 2009 and Redevco says it will be the first building to attain BREEAM green building certification.

The company said it had already leased 60% of the space in the 32,000 m2 Erzurum Shopping Center which is due to open in the third quarter of 2009. Tenants include Carrefour, which will have an 8,000 m2 hypermarket in the mall, as well as Turkish electronics chain Teknosa, Koton, Benetton, Boyner Department Store, LC Waikiki and Cinebonus Cinema. With a population of 350,000, Erzurum is the largest city in the eastern Anatolia region. Like the Ankara shopping centre, Erzurum Shopping Center is also seeking BREEAM certification.
