Global industrial property company Prologis has signed a major lease agreement for a facility at Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport.
The lease for the company’s distribution centre Schiphol DC2 has been signed for a 10-year period by a provider of data centre services in Europe.
The facility spans 13,700 m2 at Schiphol-Rijk and represents one of the largest recent transactions seen at the airport.
The new lease is the third deal for a Schiphol facility agreed by Prologis this year. The company currently manages some 195,000 m2 of logistics real estate in Schiphol, including 17 strategically located distribution centres.
Prologis vice president Bram Verhoeven believes the deal provides evidence of increasing demand for facilities in the Schiphol region. ‘We are delighted with this special, large transaction with a strong customer who has committed to us for the long term. With a third deal within the first five months of 2013 in the Schiphol region, we are seeing a reversal in market fortunes,’ he said.
