Dutch electronics group Philips is selling its High Tech Campus in Eindhoven to private investor Marcel Boekhoorn for around EUR 450 mln, according to sources close to the sale process. The deal is set to be sealed this week. Boekhoorn is buying the property on behalf of one of his companies, the Chalet group, the sources revealed to PropertyEU.

Philips is being advised on the transaction by Jones Lang LaSalle.

Boekhoorn has been active as a property investor in the Eindhoven region in the Netherlands for a number of years. He has invested in the Flight Forum near Eindhoven Airport, among other assets.

Philips has been trying to sell the High Tech Campus for a number of years. Local private investor Tom Moeskops was a potential candidate until he ran into financial problems last year.

The High Tech Campus was set up by Philips in 1998 and opened up to other businesses in 2003. The 103-hectare site provides around 45,000 m2 of research space, including laboratories, 150,000 m2 of development facilities and 185,000 m2 of offices. The complex also offers more than 150,000 m2 for potential development.

The Campus houses around 90 businesses which together employ some 8,000 researchers, developers and entrepreneurs representing more than 60 nationalities. The companies are primarily active in the areas of high-tech and embedded systems, life sciences and infotainment.
