Private equity firm Peakside Capital spent €220 mln in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic in 2013, in a mix of resi, retail and office deals.
It invested €170 mln in Germany and a further €50 mln in Poland and the Czech Republic. Residential deals saw 53% of the money, with 28% going into retail and mixed-use and the remaining 19% in office buildings.
The firm has also launched the opportunistic Peakside Real Estate Fund II (PREF II) to further invest in those markets this year.
Roger Barris, managing partner with the firm, highlighted improved market conditions as a factor in its ‘buy-fix-sell’ strategy for 2014. Peakside ‘will continue to target assets that are particularly well positioned to benefit from active asset management, tenant demand and liquidity,’ he said.
