Disco icon Gloria Gaynor will perform live in Palermo later this month at the start of a week of celebrations leading up to the opening of Multi Development's Forum Palermo shopping centre.
Multi said it was donating the concert by Gaynor - best known for the hit 'I will survive' - to the city of Palermo to kick off a spectacular week of events leading up to the opening of its third and biggest retail scheme in Italy. Gloria Gaynor’s concert is organized by Multi and sponsored by the municipal authorities. It will also raise funds for the Onlus Piera Cutina, which is active in the research and prevention of Cooley’s disease.
Forum Palermo, which opens on 25 November, is the first major retail project in Palermo, the capital city of Sicily. The 65,000-m2 project with 124 units is developed by Multi Development-C Italia and will be managed by Multi Mall Management Italy. Forum Palermo is anchored by a 13,500-m2 Ipercoop hypermarket, a 9,150-m2 stand-alone D-I-Y anchor and includes the renovation of two existing buildings. About 3,000 parking spaces will be available, with over 2,500 for the shopping center.
Multi said the investment in the centre totals EUR 225 mln and will directly provide over 900 new jobs and significant new indirect employment. The catchment area covers over 1 million people who live within 30-minutes drive.
The project is designed by Multi's T+T Design, Gouda, the Netherlands, Progetto CMR and Lombardini 22.
