European law firm Stibbe, which has a large real estate practice, has announced it is opening an office in Hong Kong on 1 October.

Stibbe is a full-service law firm with 360 lawyers. The firm has head offices in Amsterdam, Brussels and Luxembourg, with Dutch law branch offices in Dubai, London, New York and now Hong Kong. Corporate specialist Jan Bogaert and regional expert Alexander de Nerée tot Babberich will manage and run the Hong Kong office as local partners.

Heleen Kersten, managing partner of Stibbe Amsterdam, said, 'Over the past years the lawyers of our dedicated China Practice have gained a lot of experience in advising Chinese and Asian clients on large transactions. Following the favourable investment treaties in place in the Benelux, there is a marked increase in business between Asia and this region. Establishing an on-the-ground office in the Far East is a logical next step for Stibbe.'
