US real estate investment manager Heitman has been awarded a European logistics mandate by Meag, the asset management arm of insurers Munich Re and Ergo.
Under the mandate, Heitman will source a portfolio focusing on core, long-let logistics properties in Germany, France and the UK as well as - selectively - in The Netherlands and Belgium.
The investment activity will commence in the fourth quarter of 2013 and be carried out by a German special fund, Chicago-based Heitman said.
'Heitman has a long history in the European logistics sector due to its favourable risk/return profile and the ability to add value through asset selection and portfolio aggregation,' commented Gordon Black, co-head of Heitman’s European private real estate equity group.
The size of the investment mandate was kept confidential.
