Meyer Bergman and Neinver have agreed 12 new pre-lets at GaleriaKatowicka, bringing the retail-led project to 90% occupancy ahead of the opening in September.
retail specialist real estate investment manager Meyer Bergman and European retail developer Neinver said that the €200 mixed use development in the Polish city of Katowice is one of the few retail developments to open in Europe this year.
GaleriaKatowicka is part of a major regeneration program of the region’s transport infrastructure.
The lettings have been agreed with a variety of international and domestic premium brands including EMPiK, a Polish national retail chain which sells a variety of media and computer products, SMYK, the most popular children’s store in Poland, as well as fashion brands such as Tally Weijl and Gerry Webber. These join a strong retail line-up including department store Peek & Cloppenburg,Zara, Mango, Bershka and Pull & Bear.
The GaleriaKatowicka comprises over 48,000 m2 of GLA with over 250 shops, and once completed, the development partners said, it is set to 'revolutionise' the retail offering of Katowice and the wider Silesia region.
Situated in the city’s main square, the shopping centre will benefit substantially from its direct connection to both the central bus terminus and railway station, completed and opened as phase I and II of the wider project. The railway station is the biggest railway junction in Poland, accommodating over 12 million passengers per annum, and the new drive-through bus terminal will see over 500 buses a day delivering customers to the retail scheme.
Cushman & Wakefield is the sole agent responsible for leasing retail space in Galeria Katowicka
Mark Gamble, head of asset management of Meyer Bergman commented: 'To be 90% pre-let with four months left before the centre’s opening is an excellent achievement. The superb design, location and transport hub demonstrates a compelling rationale for retailers to trade in.'
