London-based pan-European investor F&C REIT said it carried out more than £1.1 bn (EUR 1.3 bn) of property transactions in 2011.
Most of the investment activity took place in the UK, where the transaction volume for 2011 amounted to around £650 mln. F&C REIT was active in all sectors of the market and across the risk spectrum. It was particularly heavily involved at the more value-added end of the spectrum, focusing on bank-driven sales, corporate restructuring and off-market purchases.
Germany was also an important market for F&C REIT last year. The company's German subsidiary transacted more than EUR 250 mln in more than 25 single deals.
In Germany, the focus was on retail properties in primary locations of secondary cities such as Erfurt, Böblingen, Halle (Saale) or Bochum. The 'Best Value Germany I' spezialfonds was fully placed in the second quarter of 2011 after receiving equity commitments from institutional investors worth EUR 170 mln, of
which around 50% have been invested.
F&C REIT manages a range of property investments from institutional mandates through to pooled vehicles and listed investment trusts. In addition to Core/Core Plus strategies, F&C REIT is also involved in value-added/opportunistic investments.
