Corporate law firm Schoenherr advised Vienna-based Akron Group in its EUR 40 mln purchase of Eastgate logistics park in Kiev from the Austrian Developer GLD Invest Group. The forward purchase deal for the 40,000 m2 logistics centre represents one of the first negotiated between two Austrian parties in Ukraine.

Eastgate is located about 30 kilometres from Kiev’s city-centre and five kilometres from the airport. It is one of the first modern warehouses spaces on the Ukranian market. Long-term leases have already been signed by German logistics group Fiege/rewico, Sportmaster and the French Groupe-Atlantic.

Schoenherr, with offices throughout Central and Eastern Europe, also advised independent asset management company Altira Group regarding the increasing of its strategic stake in Austrian property developers R-Quadrat to just over 20%. Altira contributed shares in the management companies of the two funds along with making a payment of EUR 1 mln to achieve the stake increase. Altira and R-Quadrat had previously cooperated in the private equity joint venture project MAGNAT, which focussed on real estate in CEE, and on SQUADRA, a German oriented fund.
