Broker King Sturge has advised European data centre development specialist E-shelter on the purchase of a brownfield site in Buckinghamshire that will be developed into the largest data centre campus in the UK.

E-shelter purchased the 10.1-hectare former factory premises at Saunderton near High Wycombe from tobacco machinery manufacturer Molins for £16.2 mln (EUR 18 mln). The acquisition was carried out by E-shelter in a joint venture with FB Data Centre Fund, a private investor fund managed by Pinder Fry & Benjamin. King Sturge said it was also responsible for introducing the joint venture partner.

Wilks Head & Eve acted for the vendor in the transaction.

E-shelter intends to develop a 77,000-m2 data center campus, second only in Europe to E-shelter's existing facility in Frankfurt. Scottish & Southern Energy will deliver 120 MW of power when fully operational.
