Dutch listed retail group Corio has appointed Jaap Blokhuis, currently member of its supervisory board, to lead the company's €1.4 bn disposal programme.

In a statement, Corio said it had finished the process of selecting a chief operating officer when the candidate had to withdraw due to unforeseen personal medical circumstances.

As a result, Corio has decided to offer the position to Blokhuis, who is resigning from the supervisory board, until another candidate for COO/CIO is proposed, in which case he will assume his previous position.

Blokhuis will be in charge of the disposal programme of the Traditional Retail Centre portfolio, to be sold over the next 3 - 4 years. He will report to CEO Gerard Groener and will start as of 1 April 2013.

Blokhuis started his career in real estate in 1983 at ING. After multiple management positions he became director real estate asset management/fund management, a position he held from 1994 to 1999. From 1999 to 2011, he was CEO of Redevco, a privately held real estate asset management and development company with a portfolio value of €7.5 bn.
