French hypermarket giant Carrefour will open its second store in Moscow through the lease of 13,000 m2 of retail space in the River Mall shopping and entertainment center in Moscow.

Colliers International, the project's marketing manager, said Carrefour has signed a leasing agreement with the project's developer, CJSC Kuznetsky Most Development, to become the mall's anchor tenant.

The complex is being built in the Russian capital on the grounds of the former Likhachev factory and will be one of the leading retail complexes in the city with roughly 260,000 m2 of total floor space as well as a parking lot for 3,000 cars. The shopping centre is due to open at the end of 2010, with the Carrefour hypermarket to open its doors for customers in 2011.

Carrefour opened its first Russian hypermarket this year in Moscow.
