A consortium of banks led by BayernLB is financing the construction of Germany's largest data centre to be built in Saxony-Anhalt on a surface area of 150,000 m2.

Foundations were laid down this week by a group of companies comprising Hannover Leasing as investor and Ed.Züblin AG and M+W GmbH as joint building venture. The scheme is being constructed for Telekom's T-Systems subsidiary, which will lease centre and make further investments amounting to the mid-range double-digit millions of euros on average every three years in further modernization.

The scheme received several million euros in support from the state of Saxony-Anhalt. BayernLB is providing construction finance together with LBBW and KfW Ipex. Law firm Freshfields advised the banks of the financing.
