German lender BayernLB is edging closer to its goal of doing €3 bn in new business this year, Bernd Mayer, head of BayernLB’s real estate division, said at Expo Real this week.

‘We have already done €2 bn in new business this year (to end-September), of which around 85% was in Germany,’ Meyer said. ‘Our target for the year is €2.5 bn to €3 bn, which is achievable,’ he said.

Around 85% of BayernLB’s loan portfolio is in its home market, Meyer said, with the remaining 15% split between the rest of Europe and North America.

Earlier this month, the bank provided €76 mln in financing to Hamburg-based Wegner group for a logistics centre in Worms. The 52,000 m2 facility is fully let to Robert Bosch.
