Domain Timber Advisors (DTA) has secured an additional $50m (β¬43.2m) from the New Zealand Superannuation Fund (NZ Super Fund), expanding a value-added US timberland separately managed account to $200m.
The mandate, established in 2023 with an initial $150m commitment, has now been fully deployed.
Natural capital manager DTA said the top-up from the sovereign wealth fund will provide βgreater flexibility to pursue acquisitions that complement the existing holdings and capitalise on value-creation opportunities across existing and future investmentsβ.
Don Warden, managing director and co-head of Domain Timber Advisors, said: βWe are deeply grateful to NZ Super Fund for its continued confidence in DTA and for the opportunity to expand our work together.
βThe original commitment allowed our teams to build the portfolio thoughtfully and establish a collaborative relationship grounded in alignment, transparency and a shared long-term perspective. We are proud of what we have built together and excited about the work ahead.β
Pete White, portfolio manager, real assets at NZ Super Fund, said: βDTA has been a valued partner in developing this portfolio. The additional commitment will support the continued execution of the mandate, including both selective additions to the portfolio and value-creation opportunities across the holdings, and reflects our shared long-term approach to investing in timberland.β
John Capriotti, managing director and co-head of Domain Timber Advisors, said: βThis additional capital gives us greater flexibility to pursue acquisitions that complement the portfolio and to capitalise on value-creation opportunities across both existing and future investments.
βThat includes disciplined forestry and property improvements, aggregation opportunities and selective land-use initiatives that can enhance long-term value.β
