New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) is investing with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners via the manager’s renewable-energy infrastructure fund.
The pension fund said it has made a €250m commitment to Copenhagen Infrastructure IV, a core-plus fund seeking to raise €5bn to €7bn of equity to fund up to €14bn worth of investments across North America, Western Europe, and developed Asia-Pacific markets.
NYSCRF has also approved a $300m (€254.9m) commitment to the Blackstone BioMed Life Science Real Estate Partners fund.
“Our investment staff believes that life science office properties will generally outperform most other real estate sub-sectors over the medium to long-term. In addition, this investment helps to diversify the CRF’s more traditional office portfolio,â€ the pension fund told Â鶹ӳ» Real Assets.
NYSCRF said since BioMed has a substantially pre-specified portfolio, this was not a concern, and the influx of capital seeking to enter the sector should only enhance the value of BioMed’s existing portfolio.
NYSCRF has in the past invested in Blackstone Real Estate Partners VIII, a fund that owned BioMed. It has also owned shares of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, a life-science office real estate investment trust.
