KKR and TotalEnergies have expanded their North American renewables joint venture through the addition of a 700MW US utility-scale solar portfolio with an enterprise value of $1.2bn (€1.1bn).

The 50/50 venture was originally formed in 2025 when KKR acquired a 50% stake in TotalEnergies’ 1.4GW solar portfolio in a deal valued at $1.25bn.

The expanded portfolio now includes three utility-scale solar assets located in Texas and Ohio, which are scheduled to reach commercial operation by the first quarter of 2027.

The electricity generated by the assets is either contracted to third parties or will be marketed directly by TotalEnergies.
