Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions (MIDIS) has financed a portfolio of seven on-shore wind farms in the UK.

The Β£60m (€75.9m) amortising facility was given to asset manager Capital Dynamics Clean Energy and Infrastructure Fund.

The 18-year facility will be used to recycle equity capital across the 55MW portfolio.

MIDIS, which invests in infrastructure debt for institutional investors, said the facility was made up of RPI-linked and nominal debt.

Kit Hamilton, MIDIS senior vice-president, said onshore wind was β€œone of the most established renewable technologies”.

β€œWe anticipate increasing interest from renewable energy businesses looking for loan structures to match their cash-flow inflation profile,” Hamilton said.

Rory Quinlan, Capital Dynamics managing director, said assets such as wind power generators needed alternative ways to access secure long-term funding.

, MIDIS said it raised Β£580m for its infrastructure debt strategy.

At launch , James Wilson, the company’s portfolio manager for infrastructure-debt investment solutions, estimated inflation-linked borrower demand at around Β£4bn.
